When my sister moved to Germany and started a family, I began visiting more and more often, until I was living between two countries. My language game changed overnight. I wasn't a tourist anymore. I was picking up the kids from kindergarten, asking the neighbors for help, and handling deliveries and family logistics. English simply wasn't enough.

Building friendships was also a challenge.

Many of my German friends spoke English, but when we all sat down at the table, everyone spoke English only because of me. German was their natural language, so they would unconsciously switch back to it, and suddenly I was on the outside. Some of my relatives spoke no English at all, and my German wasn't strong enough to connect with them.

I knew an app or a textbook wouldn't solve this, because I needed much more than words and grammar. I had to read, write, understand people, speak, and work on my accent. No single tool could give me all of that.

What I needed was a strategy, like a big puzzle where every piece builds a specific skill. Language coaching was only beginning back then, so I created that strategy myself.

I didn't know yet that this would become my business. But as I worked internationally, I kept meeting people with the same problem. They wanted to belong in their adopted country, and for that they needed the language.

I loved creating roadmaps for them. It felt like being Sherlock Holmes with a mystery to solve. I spent hours figuring out how my client's native language differed from their target language, and what they needed to learn and practice to bridge the gap.

Years later, I needed a roadmap again. After I moved to the US, my English was already proficient, but I wanted to do something I had never done in it: perform on stage in front of native speakers. I knew you can learn to do anything in your target language with the right plan, so I wrote one.

A year later, I had become a storyteller on stage in the United States, and I continue performing every month.
